Since last Thursday (I believe) I have been getting an error message whenever I attempt to open Outlook. My normal 'techie' relative doesn't have much experience with Outlook so he's not sure he can help. I haven't found anything on Google (that I can understand anyway). So, as always I am turning to Afterdawn for help, you guys have yet to fail me. :-)
So the basics:
I have Windows XP, and Microsoft Office 2000. Which evidently isn't supported by Microsoft anymore.
Here is the exact error I am getting:
Quote:Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Microsoft Outlook. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.
To see what data this error report contains, click here.
Then I have three options:
Debug, Send Error report, Don't Send.
I have done each of these and outlook closes and when I reopen it, it does the same thing. It seems to load Outlook, then just hangs when it is loading up the messages in my inbox. Not getting new messages mind you, but just the old saved messages.
Just an FYI, I am not the most savy computer user, so I apologize in advance for any stupid questions I may ask in this thread. I was going to copy and paste the technical part of the error report but it's huge and the copy function doesn't seem to work on it.
You could try running the repair wizard for Microsoft Outlook.
Go to the control panel
Add/Remove programs
Find Microsoft Office
There should be an option to either change or repair MS office. Select it.
From there follow the on screen instructions.
