Star Ratings don't stick with Windows media Player 11....?

So i have Windows Media player 11 - I decided to start rating some o my favorite songs as apparently you then choose for the player to play random songs in order of rating (or something to that idea), regardless, once rating some songs in a playlist, closing the playlist, and re-opening it later, I noticed that the star ratings don't stick...? Is there something I'm missing? or some optionI should have turned on or off?
