Hi
I recently installed XP updates, however when I went to restart the system it crashed and the computer would not restart, it kept crashing (also crashed in safe mode). I reinstalled XP under a different folder as I did not want to overwrite the files on the PC.
I have deleted the original (corrupt) windows folder from the system, however when the computer starts up now, I am still given two option to start the pc, both in XP home edition. One option is the new istall and the second is the corrupt version. The system has not been partitioned so they exist on the same drive. Does anyone know how I can delete the corrupt version, so that the pc will start without giving me the option to choose between two OS??

Many thanks

my computer/control panel/system/advanced/startup and recovery/system startup/edit/ remove the entry for the second OS from the boot.ini.

make sure you make a copy of the entrys on the boot.ini file before you overwrite the original. You can just copy and paste into a notepad file.

If you want you can download the following boot.iso just in case your computer won't bootup because you remove the wrong OS. This bootcd will boot you into windows. Download this file (CD-R fixntldriso.zip) and burn the ISO into a cd
