im in a bit of a pickle and was hoping someone out there can lend a helping hand.
my mothers computer recently needed to go in for service, and they advised us that the easiest way to back-up would be to use windwos easy transfer (wet). they said that we probably wouldnt need to use it, but its better to be safe than sorry.
turns out we did need it, they swapped the hard drive. well thank god we had a backup. computer went right back in for repair, and mum ended up getting a whole new laptop set up from futureshop.
so got the new computer home, started windows easy transfer, let it all run...when its done, all the old directories are there, but none of the file within them are, just all dir and subdirs...
the wet file says theres 10gb, but i dont think its 10gbs of dir and subdir...
my mum is devestated. she had her whole like over the last 6 years on that machine, and its not coming back properly. if anyone has any idea how i can go about getting this rectified, i would be eternely grateful.
In folder settings, check the box that says show all hidden files. Maybe the files are hidden.
If the (wet) file is 10gb, then the information should be in there and retrievable.
i cannot seem to find them when i show hidden files and folders.
i agree that if its 10gb the files are somewhere...
is there a way of "hacking" into the savedata file and exploring/copying manually?
may i also add that this transfer was from a windows vista machine to a windows 7 machine.
