Hi all,
This is advise only from long hours dealing with procedure entry point errors shreggetvaluew, dynamic linl library shlwapi.dll. and corrupt sp2 install.
It is not meant to upset anybody just drawing down on the experience I had with updating my computer.
Google the problems mentioned and their are quite a lot of people with these errors.
Having recently ran a repair install on my xp operating system I used windows help and support centre to directly download updates for sp1 and sp2.

#ran into all sorts of problems with ms 40 - 038 and update kb834707 these led to procedure entry point errors shreggetvaluew, dynamic linl library shlwapi.dll. and corrupt sp2 install.
Had to reinstall xp to fix.

My advise is when you reinstall
1. Activate automatic updates and wait for them to install and update.
2. Only then install your added programs.
This will take longer but you will have a secure system with no problems (hopefully).
