I'm not using any AV atm. and my PC specs are as followed:
HP Dv3-2140eo Entertainment
- Harddrive: Samsung HM320JI
- Proccesor: Intel Pentium T4200 (1M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
- Ram: 4GB DDR2 SDRAM - OS: Windows 7
So what am i doing wrong?
when extracting winrar wont use 100% of cpu that way it gives you some cpu usage for other things

This is true. but you might be able to speed it up some. press ctrl alt del and if using 7, vista, or xp, click task manager. once you click that, right click on the winrar instance in the list. click go to process. the process will be highlited. right click on the process and change the priority to high
Harddrive speed is also a big factor. HD is always the bottleneck when there's a program which needs to write or read data occasionally. If you go with ssd drive, you might experience much faster extracting/compressing processes.
Winrar isn't able to take the full potential of your processor because of this.
