How to transfer sav file from NDSi to NDS.

So my son has an NDS M3 card with the Game Pokemon.
I installed the same Pokemon HeartGold on an R4 card on a DSi
He plays on both handheld consoles, but now the R4 card has a better "profile" (i.e. Badges, Pokédex...)
I thought I would just be able to copy the sav.file from the uSD card of the R4 card and paste it over into the microSD card of the NDS.

When that happens, the NDS gives a blank screen once we go thru the menus to activiate the game.
