Playing Games on DS R4 card????

I just got an R4 card and I have games to put on, but whenI put the old games on there....it tells me unkown and wont play the files....
The files end in .nes or .smc I dont know how to put songs on either....can anyone help me with this?
Im dying to play these games! lol

The files are not ds files they are for other systems (.nes is for the original Ninteno Entertainment System) I believe there is a nes emulator for the DS, however the DS is not powerful so don't expect much.

Music can be played by using Moonshell, it is a media player for the DS carts, (must be mp3 as far as I can remember!)
