You need the second one. I've never seen that other kind of microSD before. It's either propitiatory for some specific device or extremely new. Also, try to get one that has class6 or higher speed, as some games will have problems with slower microSD's.

And in the picture of your flashcart on the box there is a website. They should have the proper firmware version there, or at least a link to it.

Actually, from what I understand the SDHC-compatible flashcarts should support up to 32gig microSD's. I dont think any of those exist yet though, at least not at the consumer level anyway.

As for brand, I have an 8gig and my girlfriend has a 4gig sandisk. My friend has a 4gig kingston. They're all class 6 speed and work great.

Another of my friends has a 2 gig (that I forget the brand of) that is only class 2 and he has problems with some games, mostly those with full motion video cutscenes. They stutter and a few games actually crash.

I would personally go with this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211196

I previously had a 4gig A-Data and it worked well for me. No problems in any games. Price is good too.
