I have read the recent articles about Demonoid being taken down by a DDOS attack and was wondering what everyone's take is on this. I have been using it for about two years and have found no reason for anyone to attack this site. I'm pretty sure that Anonymous is not the one behind this.
I was also wondering if anyone knew of decent private trackers that have a good amount of content, a decent userbase, plus admins and moderators whom are responsible? (I don't trust search engines when it comes to finding things like this, especially after Scroogle's demise)

I've tried those. Maybe it's just me, but I kind of like the semi-private site. I have depended on Demonoid for so long that I am "out of the loop" and don't have any contacts to be able to be invited to private tracker sites. I knew that I could always find what I needed at Demonoid!

Well hopefully a new site will come along or demonoid will resurrect quickly :)
I tried usenet for a bit but found that I hardly use it now and thats after a month! haha just show you
how quickly things go

Thanks, I've only ever used Demonoid and KickAss. There was a lot of Sonic content that was there but not anywhere else (paticulary the classic stuff) as well as a lot of trustworthy content too (you would know if there was a virus, plus the admins were very strict with the no virus policy). KickAss is pretty close to what Demonoid is except for the fact that the search is very basic compared to Demonoid's.
