stock answer.. you can't without a proxy .. as soon as data is swapped from one place to another your ip comes up in the transfer packet headers.

You need proxy or piggybacking.

a proper proxy too.. not a "web proxy" .. those are far too easy for sniffers and packet grabbers and others (afterdawn tightened up on cookie verification a couple of years back after a couple of us showed them how we could log in and post without sending any ip purely by chaining proxies)

even then.. piggybacking can be found by anybody you connect to.. data packets have to know where to get back to.. so they contain certain information that is very specific to your connection or hardware.

the basic answer is.. you can't hide from the owner of the network your connection comes through.. you might be able to hide WHAT you are transferring.. but not the fact it is happening.. where from and where to.

Scum! That was the most concise explanation as to why you can't hide your IP address I have ever set my eyes on.

Birdaug, If you hide what you are doing and block them from getting in to your computer you are no longer low hanging fruit. That is not all that hard. Unless you are in a country where P2P is forbidden, that might keep you from the first wave of attacks if any occur. At least I hope so.
