Are there any advantages or disadvantages to limiting up/download limit on bittorent? I like to limit my upload limit by about one third so I get faster web crawl performance and because upload still counts against my monthly 250 GB data limit. I also limit my download speed %10 for faster web browsing. No reason not to do this is there? I wonder how bad comcast is at observing their data cap limit? Any U-torrent settings I should adjust?
Limiting upload by 1/3 shouldn't affect anything, 80% is usually recognized as optimum, actually too high may kill download speed. The biggest settings to change for torrents are to a router and firewall, if port check in utorrent shows green you're good to go, also use a port over 10,000. You could look into the Lvllord patch if on XP but never used it.
