Is there a way to download torrents anonymously? Though I dont download torrents very ofetn I'm concerned about big brother knocking at my door. I watched a cnbc special about the state of information collection and man is it bad, as storage has drastically improved every company is keeping enormous files on everybody and I'd like to be on as few as possible.
So is there a software program that can help?

The problem with the IP address hiders is they can be hacked. If you paid for the service and they want you, you are worse off than if you didn't use any.

I tend to use peer block in conjunction with Block List Manager. There is a tutorial on how to use peer guardian with BLM, but you can use that guide to set BLM up with peer block, and PG2 doesn't seem to update much anymore.

Says who? btjunkie...

If you read AD news you wouldn't feel so secure. Most of the IP address hiders seem to get hacked indiscriminately.

You are much better off going with rtm27's advice. Still, you aren't very safe but it is the best you can do without hacking into someone else's network and using its IP address. Because the lists get changed daily, someone always gets through probably daily even if you update daily and I bet they share lists. My advice is to uninstall then install your client monthly. It will help muddle the waters. They are looking for you total uploads and down loads and logging them. They are placed on the outside of the fire wall so that is legal to harvest.

Also force encryption. They still know what you are downloading but they are forced to do it in a round about way. It also requires more effort and is not used in the general surveys. It is usually employed by an organization activly protecting certain products. They find a torrent sharing what they are protecting and share it logging the other peer's IP addresses.

If they start going after torrent users they will likely go after the low hanging fruit first unless it is the product targeted attacks. Even those run into problems because the ISP wants to be paid for doing research. ISPs have discovered how cheap these blood suckers really are. Most will not cough up more than a buck for an ISP to 'give up' a customer which could cost the ISP over a grand in a 2 year span. They truly are blood suckers.
