i can't get good torrent speeds-

the max torrent speeds that i get are like 10 kbps. i use u torrent.
i have no firewall, i haven't limited the download rate. but i still can't get speeds above 10kbps.

i read a port forewarding article. the problem is i have a Dlink DSL-2650U router (THERE ISN'T PORT FOREWARDING BUT THINGS LIKE VIRTUAL SERVERS PPTP, PORT MAPPING BUT NO PORT FOREWARDING!) i live in tel aviv with a bezeq connection.

i downloaded a torrent - 534 books for dummies with 170kbps speed but when i tried to download THE SIMS with 2000 seeders it goes at 10kbps.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!! ESP WITH THE PORT FOREWARDING THING FOR THE DLINK - DSL-2650U

I did find a manual for that
http://www.netcheif.com/downloads/DSL-2650U-UG.pdf

From the manual it looks like "Port Triggering" is what you use for that router.

In the manual go to Advanced Setup>NAT>Port Triggering.

for uTorrent you need to allow both TCP and UDP (I do not know if you need two rules in that router or not)for the single port that you have set in uTorrent at Options>Preferences>Connection.

Be sure to disable the "randomize port" option in uTorrent.

It is best to choose a port within the 49152-65534 range in uTorrent to avoid ISP blocks and possible conflicts with other programs.

Bezeq looks to be bittorrent friendly

Thanks for the reply

i tried what u said. there are two table for entering values.

1. Trigger port start and Trigger port end
2. Open Port Start and Open port End

like the one on page 51 of the manual u linked me to.
on which of these do i type in the port number?

And when i tried to put it in both the trigger and the Open, the wireless router switches on and off on its own!

I have a 2 tb western digital my book home edition. i have connected the usb with the dlink router, but it only shows me only one of the 2 partitions that i created 1tb each. what shall i do to get both partitions on the network drive?

thanks

Yes and that would be the number to use in the router.

As far as the manual, it is weak as it gives no info on how to actually enter the numbers. I can only suggest trying one way and then another to see if it works.

There only needs to be one port open, so the start and end numbers would be the same as your uTorrent port number you have chosen.

Did the router come from your ISP? If so, their site may have some info as online games also need to be forwarded and they are pretty popular.

As far as the external HD, I have no idea what is happening there. If the router is from the ISP, they may info to help.

check
http://nivmedia.com/2007/03/10/solution-...rent-and-vista/

I tried the port mapping and the virtual servers. How do i know my OWN ip address? is it the same one as the router 10.0.0.138 (one used to config) or some thing else?

As to the link, I know that was came up with Vuze/Vista users also and for a number of people it worked.
I am not sure if things have changed and that is not necessary anymore (I use XP) as I do not see it mentioned much anymore.
Good thing is that you can change it back easy enough if it does not work.

As far as your IP, I should have referred you to this page about setting a Static IP before. If your IP changes (dynamic), you would have to re-do the steps of forwarding unless you set a static IP. It will have the info on finding your IP.

hi

i used the port triggering and now the port is working (open).
i read somewhere that u torrent gives u download speeds according to your upload.
I tried greedytorrent it says that it cant "listen to the port" that i use in utorrent -{51328}.
how can i make this work. or do u know any easier upload/download ration fakers i can use.
My port is driving me MAD!
help
and is it normal for torrent speeds to go from 100kbps to 3kbps and then back again to 100kbps? Mine does this even though the port is open
again help

Setting upload in uTorrent is a fine line. The more upload you give out on a torrent, while downloading, the more download you will receive back from other peers. However, if upload in uTorrent is set too high, or to unlimited, needed communications (acknowledgement signals, resend requests etc.) will be interfered with.

The general rule is to cap upload in uTorrent to 80% of the upload capacity of your internet connection. A speed test should be taken to determine the upload capacity of your connection. This guide has info, links and screen shots to help:
http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/...rrent-speed.htm

Good to see the port is cleared.

Sorry, I will not help with ratio cheating clients. Content is distributed in bittorrent through the upload bandwidth of users and ratio cheaters should not be used. Maintaining a healthy ratio overall (at least 1:1) helps to keep torrents alive and healthy. You got the torrent because others stayed to seed, so it is fair to seed to help others download.

Your speed is totally normal, it's all related to connection's, peer's you're connected to and how much file they have, how much file you have, seed's; fluctuation swing's are normal. All bittorrent client's benefit from setting your upload to around 80%. Take this speed test with setting's to kilobit's (didn't see that, thank's jeffw224): http://www.speedtest.net/index.php (take it later a few time's at various time's to get a good average) and select the number closest to that number (up or down) at option's>speed guide>connection type. As far as GreedyTorrent, no experience with it or program's like RatioBooster but if utorrent port check is showing green, I'd say ignore it (GreedyTorrent, that is) and quit using any of them anyway. Edit: I was a bit too slow.
