u-torrent isn't connecting.

I am trying to use u-torrent on this acer extensa laptop with windows vista. my head hurts from reading all these other threads here and trying things that didn't work. I can connect with my linux through tranmission, but this laptop will not download using u-torrent. it will download otherwise. I forwarded ports here, but it didn't work.

it says dht:waiting for login. when i turn dht off it still wont connect.

Are you connecting wirelessly, try direct? What port, use one over 10,000, is it showing open; I think you can check at options>speed guide? If not, you may need a static address or to allow utorrent through any firewall, maybe both (firewall for sure). Check for your modem here as well, some have firewalls too: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm and here for your ISP (there are others as well): http://wiki.vuze.com/w/Bad_ISPs Edit: you can see if this helps at all: http://nivmedia.com/2007/03/10/solution-for-incredibly-slow-utorrent-and-vista/
