I am new to this and will learn. To anyone with suggestions I really appreciate your assistance.

I did search on google for this issue and on this forum but found no results with any answers, not much results found at all.

I am transfering my home movies off a Sony miniDV cam and in type 2. Have not done any compression or editing on any of them. My next plan after transfering is to split them up by dates.

I used WinDV to transfer the files on a Vista Ultimate x64.

All of my files are atleast several gb in size because most of the tapes are atleast 60 minutes long.
They also play just fine in VLC and I am able to open them in VirtualDub.

But I am concerned about the messages I get when checking with AVIcodec and GSpot and want to find out what they mean before I start doing anything with the raw files.

Now to the two specific questions I have

[AVIcodec question]

When checking some of them in AVIcodec it will give popup message:

file.avi is incomplete (too small)

What does that message mean, is there something wrong with the file?

[GSpot question]

When checking some of my files in GSpot in the Container section there will be a Note.

Example: Note: 11.4 GB uneeded bytes at end of file

What does that mean?

Anyone know where I can find out the answers, such as another forum if nobody knows it here?
