5.00 m33-6 to 5.50 Gen Problem (not black screen)

Help people please!
I'm running 5.00 m33-6 and its been working fine for a very long time. But lately the iso's I've downloaded show the "famous" -The game could not be started- message. A friend told me he had the same problem but he fixed it by upgrading to one of the new Gens. Well, I tried to do the same thing BUT the every update I download doesnt work! They just don't show up in the "game" tab in the xmb. I follow the directions precisely and I've tried everything i know. Even launching it through the semi-brick recovery run in the recovery menu doesn't work.
Please help!

be sure you put the updates in the PSP-GAME-folder. and the .pbp file on the root of your stick. here are the updates if you need them.

yeah, i have the 550.pbp in the root. and the update files in PSP>GAME>UPDATE
still doesnt show up... :(

one of those updates have a double folder, make sure it only has one folder. i remember one of them had update>update and then the files. you may have to format the card and then put them in also.

i always start from 401 and then update from there i can go from 401 to 550 gen-d3 cfw of course on all phats and some slims, never had any problems with rains mms and firmware have you tried it????

It should work from 5.00 m33-6. :/ Theres no double folder.... btw thanks for answering
