I've been running FFXI iso's I found already converted and ran into a strange problem. From time to time when I save the save doesn't seem to actually register.

I save and if I press system the "Memory Card Utility" option is greyed out, if I then turn the game off in any way any save done from this point is lost.

It's becoming a real nightmare, as it KEEPS happening now, I go into the Iifa tree, kill the boss, hit the world map all fine, save and bam. Greyed out and if I switch off I'm back to my previous save. I've tried other save points, other memory cards and can't think of what to do. I'm on M33-3 3.90.

Worryingly I'm occassionally getting RSOD now too....
