I have a lot of movies in psp format on my pc hard disk.
In stead of transferring them everytime to a memory stick for the kids to watch, is it possible to setup the psp in souch a way that one can use the wifi adapter of the PSP to access the shared drive with the PSP movies on my pc via the wireless network and stream the movies directly to the PSP?
I am not looking at a pushing method like allready described, but a pull method. Having the database on the pc and the ability to browse the movies and choose which ever movie I want to watch on the psp via the wireless LAN.
alright, what you need is a PSP Program called IRShell, and a Computer Application called NETHOST_PC both will allow you to do what you wish,
After you have the IRSHell on the PSP, and the Nethost Setup, in the IRShell go to NETHOST Redirection and then it will try to connect, if it worked, it will go on and the computer app will register the hit from the psp... then go to LAUNCH XMB on the IRShell, and then, if you go to VIDEO on your PSP the movies should appear there. and should play though... i do it all the time...
NOTE: Make sure in the folder you have the NETHOST Computer Application, you have a Directory Structure Similar to the PSP's IE
Net0:/VIDEO for the Videos Net0:/ being the folder that the computer application is in... but you can stream Music, Movies, even ISO/CSO and Homebrew with it...
You could also use a app called "Custom Firmware Extender 3.1"(on the psp) and a app "usbhostfs-same as NETHOST"(on the PC-same app that you use with irshell). I use these app's to play my PSP iso/cso games from my HDD to my PSP-this app does the same as "irshell"-redirects your HDD drive to your memory card. So if you allready got stuff on your mem card, that will also show up aswell, plus, what I have discovered is, with usbhostfs you can immitate your memory card on your PC HDD-not only can you have a ISO folder in there but you can also have a complete setup just like your memory card would be setup as. Custom Firmware Extender 3.1 is like a m33 menu, so you don't have to wait for it to load like irshell does, a little less waiting is all good. You go with what you think is better, I tried irshell and it was a bit of hassel and I coulden't get it to work right. Custom Firmware Extender 3.1 has a couple of other features that are pritty sweet aswell, like remote joy, take your screen brightness up even higher than tha forth level, take screen shots(in game and movie aswell) so I think this is a really good app. Hope this helps :-)
Usbhostfs is only for usb, sorry, so to stream wireless to your psp you will have to use "irshell" Sorry about that mate, but do have a look into Custom firmware Extender 3.1 if you can't get the other apps to work. :-)
