My son has 4gb card at moment as magic stick but due to games wants to upgrade to 8gb card he has pandora etcs Set up with new 5.50 genD3.To upgradeI take it he would have to basically start from scratch as in format put 5.50 gen D3 on new card .Im not that upto speed on PSPs

No. He just has to format the new card with his PSP to get the folder structure (can be done manually too, but no need) and put the game files on it. The firmware information is stored on the PSP itself, not on the memory stick.

Thanks for quick reply brilliant one more thing would I still have to put pbp file on the root of stick or would that also be in PSP

That is in the PSP too, that file was only used to put on the custom firmware
