Hey guys, as the subject line states, I can hear sounds on my PSP-1000 but I can see anything. The story goes is that my friend gave me this psp to hack but the screen was cracked, so I swapped screens with my cousins psp to check the firmware. Everything worked fine, so I bought a new screen. When I put the new screen in my friends psp, thats when the problem happened, I know that the screen is good cuz I tried it on my cousins psp, so my question is what do I now? Is my friends psp busted cuz I cant see anything or is it something eles?
P.S. sorry for the long post.

sorry a little confusing with your description.
you first placed a screen on the damaged psp and it worked, but now when you place a new screen on the damaged psp, it doesnt work?
my first suspicion was a damaged motherboard... you can get replacement motherboard (i.e dealsextreme DX in HK).

Ok..im gonna try and make it sound less confusing. (It kinda sounds confusing to myself too) OK. my friend "John" gave me his psp to hack, but tha screen was cracked. So in order to check tha firmware on it, I took tha screen from my cousins psp, "Chris", and put it in "Johns" psp. Now, I ordered a new screen off of eBay, and when I came I put tha screen in "Johns" psp, tha cables where connected correctly, but when I turned on tha psp, I get sound but no video. At first I thought that tha screen was defective, but when I tried the new screen on "Chris'" psp, both sound and video appeared. So my question is, what is wrong with "Johns" psp?
I hope that made everything a little clearer to understand and I used different names, hence tha quotes.

most of the time the ribbons are not plugged in correctly. if you are sure that the ribbon is connected correctly(triple check it) the use an amp meter to check the backlight fuse. if you can still plug the other screen that worked before into it, and it work then i would rule that out, but if you take the screen that you know worked before and try again but still get no picture, then i would bet money the backlight fuse is blown. you can bridge it with solder and it will be fine.
