Hey all,
I'm considering purchasing a PSP in the next week or two (Not a PSP GO, I hate the look of it) and I just had one or two questions which hopefully someone will be able to answer.
Basically I'm considering buying this in liue of a PS2/3 or XBox beacuse its not feasible for me to have one. I'd just like to know about the caliber of the games before I buy it.
Now, graphics for me aren't a major thing, I prefer gameplay, but how do games for the PSP compare to the same games on the Xbox or PS3? In terms of depth of gameplay? And length of game?
I suppose to try and clarify my question, I should say that I have a DS and while the games are good, any games released on multi-platform are horribly watered down when it comes to the DS. One major example I can give is Battlefront Elite Squadron which came out recently. I've played it on the DS and its like the gameplay has been stripped down to its bare bones, and then stripped some more. If anyone has ever played the battlefront series ye'll know its about big battles and lots of enemies. For the Space battles on the DS, theres only ever 4 ships, and the batle takes place in one plane. Which is just awful. In comparison, any of the gameplay videos I've seen for the same game on the PSP look much better, much like you'd play on an Xbox or PSP.
So to conclude, is it worth my while buying a PSP and expecting good quality games that are comparable to the PS and XBox?
There are some excellent games for the PSP, takes you hours and hours to finish them, for example the two GTA games, Resistance, Jak and Daxter, Assassin's Creed, Priny (I totally love that one), Little Big Planet, God of War, Soul Calibur ...
The DS is a toy for children, the PSP is more for the grown up players.
Try to get a PSP 1000 (the old fat one) or a PSP 2000, they can be hacked to play backups. Also those hacked PSPs can play any PS1 games.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
