Im new! and not mr awesome at computers so bear with me lol.

downloaded some .rar game files for a ps1 emu and got the latest ver of winrar, i was able to extract the rar files but no .iso files show up after extraction, i read the other threads sort of related to what im doing and unticked the .iso option in options/settings/intergration but all i get are .ccd,.img, .sub and .bin.ecm(no space) files. am i doing something wrong or are these rar files im starting with screwed up? i also tried to extract the extractions but i just get raw code

my emu will accept .iso .psx .exe .bin so i'll be happy with whatever works lol

the .img files are effectively iso files..

try this freeware and report if it works. http://www.crystalidea.com/img-to-iso-co...vert-img-to-iso

Great stuff.. thanks for reporting success. As for the other error I think you need to let me know which emulator because it relates to an unsupported cpu ..well strange.. wrong emulator for the hardware most likely. :)

im using adrilpsx ed 1.0.5
granted, i know this might be a bit outdated but i tried the other ones commonly available i.e. epsxe, psxeven and psx and the craziness i had to go through..huuuffff. some didnt come with any plugins or bios, anotherr was missing dll files, its kind of daunting when you dont really know what files you are looking for or what it needs to work and you work with your hands and not your fingers ;) so i went with that one because it worked lol, well, it worked till i tried to boot a game.

What are you trying to run it on.. as this is in the psp topics I was guessing it was that.

if you need a bios try this http://community.livejournal.com/gamexchange/974.html

I use epsxe on linux.. and it works a treat with the plugins that can be found on ngemu.

tomb raider.... running on a dell p3-600 with 256 ram.. not even a good computer, just an old workhorse optiplex gx110 that cost me £5

nah.. it's cool
I couldn't think of anywhere better really.. most people wanting to play ps1 games are after psp advice.

Is that hardware you have a 64 or a dual core or something.. because the error is interesting as it seems to be throwing up a cpu instruction set error.

http://forums.ngemu.com/adripsx-discussi...k-plz-help.html

maybe there is an answer there? .. and yes.. I'm a vampire.. ask my husband

hmmmm.. I was reading that thread on ngemu about this emulator and it seems you are not alone having black screen boot and other funky happenings. Try the suggestions in the link and see if that gets you anywhere.

Success!
ok, i got the epsxe to work finally.
1. the bios i had for it was screwed up, i went here and got good bios files and plugins http://www.emuasylum.com/index.php?page=...y%20Playstation
just export them to the proper folders
this got the bios test to work, but still no go on the game working (FFtactics)
so i got daemon tools and mounted the iso to a virtual drive and changed the drive path and on the emu booted it as a cd and viola!
i did have to mess around with the plugin a bit but i just used the search for best button and it was fine, im assuming that if you go to that site and get the same plugins and bios files im using it will do the same

thank you so much for the help! i would have never figured any of this out on my own lol

ps, sorry in advance if im not supposed to post url's to sites

also, the game booted and i started a new game but i havent had a chance to play for any length of time so idk if its gonna work 100% but its looking promising so far

The bois can be found by anybody who can be bothered to look for them a little.. technically they are fony copyright and illegal to distribute..

There are 3 different versions so it's worth collecting them all. Some games are region locked to a specific bios version.. especially the later ones.

Strange thing here.. I always run my disk images unmounted as fill clone toc/data pairs. (that's how k3b likes to make them)

Every game is different.. some work better than others.. I have never got FF8 to work properly.. the overlays don't load when you come to a fight so that makes it all pointless.
