So I've been having problems with my PSP. Whenever I press the Home button, the D-Pad simply ceased to work (meaning I can't choose yes or no option on the menu). It still makes a sound though if I press left or right on the D-Pad. All buttons still work perfectly during a game so I suspected that it's not a hardware issue, but the problem started after I accidentaly dropped my PSP. Also, my UMD would start automatically whenever I start my PSP, even though I've put the UMD Auto Start option to off.
I'm using CFW 5.50 GEN D3. Had no problems during and after installation (As I mentioned, the problem started to occur after I dropped my PSP).
Any ideas on what could be causing this and on how to fix it?
I wouldn't worry about your fw version, its not part of the problem, (check all settings just in case). More than likely you have a button depressed somewhere which is why you cant choose option in home. For now put your power switch into the hold position and then up again, that should let you work in the home option screen. It will most probably have to be opened and checked out with the possibility of one or more hardware parts having to be replaced, if you cant maybe,(luckily) get whichever button is stuck to pop back into its correct position. If you fancy undertaking opening it yourself as a last resort just go with the old process of elimination, a bit of Google and after dawn and a touch of common sense and you'll sort it. As for the umd problem try resetting your system to default just for the fun of it, but i suspect you probably had a umd in the psp when it was dropped and may have damaged the umd motor on/off switch on the motherboard. Good luck
