PSP Analog stick contact alternative?

I lost the clear rubber contact from my PSP-1001 that goes under the analog stick to the motherboard, but I put in one from the slim PSP-2000. Since it is not tall enough, would I work I put a wire down the length of the area the contact covers. Or will this damage the motherboard or something. I understand the rubber is conductive, so maybe wire with no insulation will work? Or the PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 rubber contacts the same? Thank you!

The problem is that there are 5 conductive pads put together, if you wanted to try wire - you would need to put it over each of the 5 contacts - one long piece over the complete thing would not work.

I have seen these for sale on eBay and a few American sites sell them, best to try and get a replacement
