Hey guys, I bought a 3600mAh battery off of ebay for $5.00 and free shipping. It arrived today. It seems to work fine after I charged it, on the ebay listing it said that it had ic chips to stop from over charging. I was using it in my psp and decided to search about it. The model number on it says TYP-107. It has silver letters on the fronside that say 3.6v 3600mAh BATTERY PACK. Through my searching I've found that people say that non-sony batteries are bad. Is this true? Also, will this hurt my psp? And one more, does this even come close to the 3600mAh it claims?

If you have any info on this, it would help if you shared. Especially if you've bought this before.

Toshiba Satellite a665 16.5" laptop - Intel i3 - 4gb RAM - 500 gb HDD
PS3 Slim 320GB HDD 3.41 OFW
PS2 Slim SCPH-70012 - Free McBoot 1.8 - 128MB Memory Card
PSP 3001 Silver - Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-C - 8GB Sony Memory Stick
iPod Touch 2g - 8gb - MC version - Jailbroken

Yes, fake batteries are bad. It won't hurt your PSP (if it is solid enough not to fall apart), but it won't come close to the 3600 mAh it is advertised with. It won't even last as long as an original one, which is around 1200 mAh. If you are lucky you get 2 hours of playing out of it, but I wouldn't count on that.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Well thats good to know...
So is there any good extended life batteries, other than the Sony 2200mAh slim battery kit?
The reason I don't want to get that one is because the battery sticks out the back.

no. the sony extended battery kit is the only reliable battery to use. i never looked back after installing it on my original 2000.

and there's a reason why it sticks out if you really think about it.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10

Actually that's a different one. There is one extended original sony battery which is thicker than the normal one, but it is not an external one.

eisherz is talking about this one. and yes, i have three of them. :p two for two psp1000 and one for psp2000.

it depends on what settings the psp are and how intensive the games are. i can probably pull 5-6 hours on 300mhz, brightness level 2, half volume if i let the battery die. on something like crisis core, looking around 4-5 hours.

That's pretty good. I might look into getting one of these for my 3000. I would probably just use it on long car rides, and use the original the rest of the time:)
