I've been given an old PSP - firmware 3.03 OE-C and would like to let my son view some cartoon when we are out and about in the car etc.
Ive used DVDCRYPTER as advised and the PSPVIDEO9 to create an MP4 file however when putting this on the memory card it just does not work I've tried renaming the file M4V or MAQ and then putting it into the right folder but it does not work. I have another file that is mp4 and this works stright away. This same file works on my iphone 3GS
Ive even tried converting the vob files to MP4 using XViDPSP but again still nothing.
Do I need to do anything with the PSP. I feel I have tried everything but can't figure out what the problem is. It must be when I convert the vob to MP4
After upgrading the firmware on the PSP to the latest versoin (6.2) I created a directory called /VIDEO and copied the MP4 fil there. It now plays perfectly. I used PSPvideo9 to convert it to PSP format (320x240, 768 bit, 16:9 ratio, 4,800 hz). You do not have to rename the video and put it under MP_ROOt as you had to do with earlier versions.
I'm new to the PSP. All I did was enable the wireless internet and there was a menu option to upgrade the firmware. I chose tht option and it automatically upgraded to 6.2
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
it also means that you will not be able to hack your psp ever.as far as i know you cant install custom firmware on 6.2 Unless you Use a pandora Battery to Downgrade , assuming you have an old enough psp that is supporting pandora mode
since his psp was old "firmware 3.03 OE-C" chances are it does support pandora batteries.
in any case upgrading your firmware has nothing to do with playing videos in the right format for the psp, you simply needed a better program to convert dvds into mp4s and now unless you know anyone with a phat psp with custom firmware that can make a pandora battery for you you'll have to buy one yourself for around $7.
...unless you just want to use it for videos, umds and mp3s like a basic psp now.
