I have bought an iphone 3G from my friend, and im already on ATT. My current plan is just a family plan, with unlimited calls and texts. I DO NOT have the data plan.

So my worries is getting charged for data usage. Ive gone into settings and DISABLED the 3G connectivity, but now an E appears on the status. Can data be transferred through that "E" connectivity?

Also, im usually in a wifi area, so if my wifi is enabled, and im searching the web on my iphone, it will automatically do it through the wifi and NOT the E, is this correct?

Also, say i get an email outside a wifi zone. Will it pop up on my iphone, charging me for data usage?

Probably the obvious question where the answer is no, but is there a way to disable data usage on the E network?
