Burning AVCHD DVD from mts files using IMGBURN

Hi,
I hope someone can help please. I have a JVC HD camcorder HM400 which creates mts files. The JVC supplied everio hd software is very buggy and tends to create dvds with i/o errors which means I cannot copy the disc for my back-up. I have tried to use IMGBURN but if I add the mts files to try and create an AVCHD dvd I end up with a disc that cannot be played on my Sony bluray player (which accepts AVCHD). If I put the dvd into my PC I can see that the mts files are on the disc as data. I am using the udf 2.50 setting. The help I have seen so far mentions BDMV and certificate folders but I am not sure if that is only to do with burning from or to a bluray disc. I would be very grateful if anyone has a solution.
