I've been using AutoGK to covert VOBs from DVD-RWs to AVIs for a number of years. Recently, I tried converting VOBs from a DVD+R. This seems to be recorded in a slightly different format from DVD-RW. There's two top level directories, a VIDEO_TS and a VIDEO_RM (IIRC). Anyway, the VIDEO_TS seems to contain what I want, so I try the .ifo within. I then get asked which PGC I want. There are four in all, two of the expected length, and two of about a minute (I'm expecting just over an hour). I select one of the hour long versions (doesn't seem to matter which), and all seems to go well, but the resulting avi seems to contain random video (a bit like a video player would produce when given an audio only source). Playing from the original disc, or just the content of the VIDEO_TS folder copied to a hard drive, using eg VLC, works fine, so the DVD itself is ok. So how do I persuade AutoGK to use the video rather than inventing some?
