Ok let me explain what happened.

i am currently the owner of a used xbox 360 i purchased this 360 from re/pc of seattle wa for 120.00 it is a black model 360 with a halo 3 faceplate and a 120 gig hard drive the reason they got rid of it is the fan was making the most horrid sound it sounded like the fan was hitting the fan shroud i took the deck apart and i was right it was hitting the shroud so it needs a new fan i ordered a new fan from console doctors as seen here.

http://video-game-repair-parts.com/xbox...cooling-fan-p-8

anyways the really nice new fans came but i have a question if you install new fans into xbox 360 are they suppose to be quiet i can here them running but usually this deck does sound like a jet engine right????

or am i wrong has anyone cleaned the fat 360 and had the fans quiet down i noticed a youtube video where after a guy cleaned his his fans went from noisy to quiet.

The reason i was asking all of this is this i dont want to run the console and fry the sucker is there a fail safe shutoff on this deck like if it gets to hot it will shut down or am i risking a rrod issue by leaving it on for a extended period of time ?????

im so worried and so lost at the same time please help me!!!!

If you installed the new fan and its running like a jet engine it could be that the cpu/gpu are running hot hence the fan will increase its rpm before the console reaches its temp threshold and either error or shut down. Its been common if the console was fixed with new thermal compound to stop RROD it will still run hot.I had 2 consoles which i fixed for RROD and after a burn in test it would not error but run the fan like a jet engine. If the console has not been fixed as of yet you may want to reapply thermal compound to the chips in the hope it will displace the heat better and reduce fan speed.
