Seems that it's in auto mode (and this is unchangeable), but you can shift manually when in auto mode (??). But if you don't it shifts for you. When downshifting, you can do the same. But to call the game shift, and not have real manual shifting? You cannot keep the RPM's high and decide not to shift -- it will do it for you -- Unless I'm missing some setting in the options.

Visually, the game does look good though. with new damage effects visible, even in cockpit view.
