So I've had my xbox for about 3 or 4 months now and i haven't had a problem out of it. Recently while i would be playing black ops 2 it would start glitching out and turn off and i could turn it back on without a problem. My friend said it might be a power supply problem but i dont think thats it. Well last night i turned off the xbox and went to sleep around 12 i had the ac on it was pretty cold (idk what that has to do with anything but im trying to put in as much detail as possible) and i woke up this morning and tried to turn it on and it would make the little "ding" noise but the light wouldnt come on. I unplugged all the cords from it and plugged them back in and thats when the red dot of death appeared it was solid at first and it stayed on. I unplugged everything carried it to the living room and plugged it back in and this time it started blinking and then disappeared after a few seconds. I am a stubborn person so i unplugged everything again left it out for about 10 minutes and plugged it in again this time the light turned green and came on but only to turn red and blink again. Idk it might be the power supply because i never unplug it i just turn the xbox off. i wasnt aware that it was a no-no to leave it plugged up. This is the second time i've expericenced the red death and i lost the first xbox to this bs. PLEASE HELP!!! :'(

Does it have a harddrive? If yes, remove it and try starting it without the harddrive. If it comes on the harddrive is defective. But your friend is right, it also might be the power supply, do you have another one, maybe you can borrow your friend's? There are also addapters that allow you to use a phat Xbox 360 power supply on a slim Xbox 360.

No it doesnt have a hard drive. I mean it was working i didnt touch it for a couple days and we played it for like 2 or 3 days but it still had the problem of only turning on when it feels like it. The buttons ding and everything but the console wont come on. When i unplug the power supply it stays orange for a while then briefly flashes red before turning off completely. But i just tried to turn it on and it gave me the solid red dot on the console. :( could it still be the power supply or is it the console?

what color is the light on the power supply when you try and turn it on? if its red then its toast!
