backup...too late?

My old ps3 died a few weeks ago and I bought a new one today.
Is it poosible to connect old HDD from fat version to the new one to make a backup
of game saves?
I think the fault with the old ones was called YLOD or RLOD
Any ideas?

No, it will ask you to format it straight away.

There is no way for you to get that data if your old console no longer turns on.

You can try the heatgun fix or oven fix with your PS3 motherboard, will require dismantling your ps3, and see if that gets it working again.

could you not buy a caddie and hook it up to pc and get files back?
edit<<<<<<<<< just buy a 2.5 external caddie, fit your hdd in it and hook it up to pc grab ya saves, take old hdd out of caddie put new one in (after youve formatted in ps3 if it needs it) and put your old saves back on and put back in pc
