hey there
i got a used ps3 for $20 and the blue ray drive isn't working
it also came with a second drive in pieces (every part taken apart)
i messed around with it for a while swapping parts and got it to load and eject
but it wont spin up I even tried swapping spin motors (just finished reading about the blue and red flash on start up so will check for that tomorrow)

I am unsure which bd controller board came with what drive as someone was inside already
and i have no idea which pieces came from what drive

is there any thing that the ps3 should do when the correct controller board is installed so I can rule that out as they don't seem to make a difference so far

if i don't get a laser flash tomorrow then I will try the other laser that I have in the parts bag but I am thinking that it might have something to do with this controller board

I have read lots of posts on the re-marry option but since it is at 3.56 I cant do it because I cant go into service mode or downgrade to the right firmware

both drives are the same kem 400AAA
but the boards have different revision stamps on them
the ps3 is a CECHEO1 2nd generation unit

any info to point me in the right direction for when I take it apart again tomorrow would be greatly appreciated

If i take the drive out of my working ps3 CECHK01 (3rd generation unit) and replace the bd controller board should it work in the other ps3 (I just don't want to take that one apart if it wont work)
but I am thinking I might have to just to rule out some of the issues and see if they are only related to one of the ps3's
