I got my son a ps3 about 6 mths ago everything went well but the last week it stoped working and it say's, ( the hard drive disk has been corrupted) and it says wait a min to restore and then it just keeps restoreing over and over could someone help me please.

did you try replacing the hard drive with another one and see if that works

Here's how to get the pS3 into Safe Mode. There's other stuff here that you may find helpful too. See"Step 4" first. I know it's illogical but reading this bit first helped me.

Check it out first. If doing all it says doesn't work, it could be, as GreenWii suggests, that the HDD has died in which case just return the PS3 to the seller for a warrenty repair or replacement. I am assuming that 6 months ago you bought it new of course.

If it's out of warrenty it might be cheaper to replace the HDD yourself. I've got a WD Scorpion Blue 650GB in mine now. It was easy enough to swap the old one out and put the new one in. The hardest part was transferring the game saves, but that's another story that I won't bore you with because, if your HDD has died, you are unlikely to be able to recover them anyway.

just make sure you are not on 3.56 firmware or if you go into safe or service mode you wont be able to get out of it
