I went to turn on my ps3 with the controller and nothing happend all lights on controller are just blinking. I pushed the power button on the ps3 on the unit powered up but no piciture and no sound. Then tried to turn it off and it would not. I Then unpluged the unit and tried to reset it by holding down the power button for two beeps. It did reset but still nothing. Any ideas? thanks

1) ps3 is broken
2) hdmi/scart/component cable broken
3) Well not a 3 but controller probably lost pairing to ps3 which could be wjy you couldnt turn it on with the controller

if you know it is below firmware 3.56 you can try using the service menu if it is on 3.56 or above you wont be able to exit the menu (ps3 will be useless for now until a fix comes out)
power off
hold power (turns on then keep holding until it turns off)
release and then press again until you hear 2 quick beeps then release and give it a min to show the menu
there is a better write up of how to use service mode in the how to install custom firmware link on the other ps3 hacking page on this site
i had one just like that a few days ago that i got for $5
go to option 6 and it will hopefully tell you to put a firmware onto a usb stick and you can restore it (worked for me)
just remember to stay below 3.56 until after you have exited that menu
