Their target market is idiots...but that is the majority of the market, so it isn't a bad target to have.
I still can't believe there is no Flash; it is like I am in a weird dream where something is just too skewed to be real. I wonder how many people will be standing in line on monday, trying to return their "Broken" iPad because it will not play ~75% of all the video on the web. Lack of multitasking can be masked to the average end-user, but lack of Flash cannot.

Wow! I cannot believe the lack of vision on this message board.
So you don't like lack of Flash support (I use Flash block on all my browsers anyway... Flash sucks) 75% of the video on the web isn't worth watching... definitely intended for idiots like you.
I develop for mobile devices, and I see this as being a huge new market opening great possibilities for new applications... applications that can take advantage of a screen larger than 3".
Have fun in your tiny little world. Break time's over at Burger King, you better get back to work!!

"75% of the videos are not worth watching, and the rest of 25% you cannot watch them". "We don't need it" is the lamest excuse for the lack of a feature. You're one of the idiots in the funboy club that jumped on the crApple's bandwagon, be happy with yourself, don't get mad at the world.
Yes, there are many opportunities for applications that can take advantage of a larger screen, but on a device worth spending the money on...and there are plenty out there way more capable than a crApple XL iTouch.

Unfortunately, the one in the tiny little world is you. Apple's tiny little world of overpriced toys. It looks nice, and I'm sure there are some really nice "eye candy" features, like little widgets that stroke your iEgo. But the locks and restrictions on what the rest of the real world sees as normal functionality that Apple pulls is anything but visionary.
You'd probably buy iGlasses with special iVasoline lense cleaner. A new jar of iVasoline will set you back $100. Regular vasoline will not work on said iGlasses.

An enlarged iPhone is not visionary... how to take advantage of a new piece of hardware is something that requires vision. The hardware is now there, and it's going to sell because there is nothing currently comparable, and it fills a void.
Are you 50 years old? If so, have you tried using a Droid or an iPhone as a portable computing device? I'm not 50, but I have done research on this subject, and I can tell you that older consumers love the idea of this product. Will they buy it in mass quantities? Time will tell... Thankfully it is not difficult to port existing apps to the iPad, so the risk to current developers is minimal.
