End of a decade - Happy new year 2010!

article published on 31 December, 2009

Wow, I can't believe that the Noughties are about to end in couple of hours time. It is quite mind-boggling to think that our site, AfterDawn, has existed through this whole decade - and then some (as our regulars remember, we celebrated our site's 10th anniversary in June). I could write once again, my "traditional" New Year's summary of the past year's events, but I wont do that this time. ... [ read the full article ]

The 21st century did not beginning until 1 minute past midnight on January 1, 2001. Check it out. What do I win???
Not a dang thing! Think about how people tend to read!! It is better to be early than to be late!
I guess it's all in how you look at it as well because while technically the end of the "decade" is considered the following year when you do the math it shows something different because you actually begin in year "0"

1) 2000
2) 2001
3) 2002
4) 2003
5) 2004
6) 2005
7) 2006
8) 2007
9) 2008
10) 2009 <- end
11) 2010 if you include it that would actually be 11

;P

He must be a mathematician, they always count from 1:))) technically, he is correct;you cannot start counting from 2000;if you do that, then you could just start from 1999 as well...you go back to the very beginning, year 1; since there never was a year 0(unless you are an astronomer!!),so starting from year 1,when the first decade began, and adding 10,each new decade begins with a year ***1, but practically, socially, welcome to a new decade:))!!

Exactly, a 2009 year old glitch that should no longer be relevant lol. That's not even mentioning the big boss' original intent, which was a decade of AfterDawn. :P

I finished my 4th year as a member back in October, but had been lurking here on and off for about 2-3 years before that. I haven't been that active in the discussions, but I plan on fixing that this year! Cheers and Happy (belated) New Year!
