Final Fantasy boosts PS3 sales

Final Fantasy XIII, the latest game in the franchise that has sold 92 million copies, has helped boost PlayStation 3 sales in Japan, despite its hefty price tag of 9,240 yen ($103 USD).
"Make no mistake, this should help lift sales of the PlayStation," adds Yusuke Tsunoda, analyst for Tokai Tokyo Securities. "The Wii has peaked out, but PlayStation is still on the upswing."

PS3 outsells the 360 by more than 340,000 units this week and Final Fantasy dominates the whole chart - including Wii Sports (all from VGChartz)
Unbelievable, considering that FF13 is only out in Japan.

not really a surprise FF is a huge game but i heard reviews coming in that they kept all the bad bits from ff12. lets hope not.
anyway if anyone wants a copy just order from Japan i guess, unless they decide to region lock this one.
when is ff13 out on the 360?

I never played through it fully, but I liked FF XII... What was wrong with it.
And I just beat FF VII on the PC :)

I wonder how Final Fantasy 13 Versus turns out. (PS3 Exclusive FTW)
It certainly should have the same impact in Japan.

FF13 is the most generic and linear FF yet it makes FFX looks wide and open..... as much as I hated FF12 for generic super moves bland equipment and a horribly broken skill system at least the level design was the there and the core combat itself was not to bad.

hopefully i will have a PS3 when the game reaches australia.ive played and completed ff 2,3,7&8 and all of them were great games.

Edit: ok it is coming out on xbox360.ive just never heard of any of the final fantasy games ever being on xbox or xbox 360.
custom built gaming pc from early 2010,ps2 with 15 games all original,ps3 500gbs with 5 games all original,yamaha amp and 5.1channel surround sound speakers,46inch sony lcd smart tv.

Last I checked it was made with the U3 engine and is coming out on both PC and the 360(launched on the PS3 frist) since they can't afford to have made it otherwise.
Versus is PS3 only.
Copyright infringement is nothing more than civil disobedience to a bad set of laws. Lets renegotiate them.

It is released in the UK on both the PS3 & 360 on March 9, 2010.
