Fox to spice up re-runs with Twitter tie-in

article published on 31 August, 2009

Fox will begin experimenting using Twitter to spice up their re-runs, beginning with the shows Fringe and Glee. The episodes will add Twitter commentary along the bottom of the screen, most from the cast and the producers, but some moderated Tweets from regular fans as well. The Tweets will come from the FRINGEonFOX and GLEEonFOX Twitter accounts, and cast members and producers will ... [ read the full article ]

Ugh, I love Fringe and was really happy when they announced a 2nd season. But the last thing I want to interrupt the suspense of the show is twitter feeds popping up throughout the broadcast.

This is true....it's one thing to have your phone going off every second during the show, cause you can turn it off, but on the TV.....Yeah very bad idea.

Sure hope they figure out something in the way of not having to have them on cause I will be turning the shows off and searching other ways to watch them a day later with out the stupid feeds.

I'm sick of the Twitter, FaceBook and My Space bulls---. I don't watch the garbage that is called "prme time" TV programming in the USA. That's right; no Amerikan Idol or Survivor for me. Thanx for giving me another reason to tune out.

My TV is used for the news and sports. Almost everything else sucks the big one...

Before the doomsday horror stories start piling up, i'd like to say that this won't be a massive screen filling thing. It'll probably be identical to CNN's new ticker that runs along the bottom of the screen. That's pretty easy to ignore and older tvs probably cut it off anyways.

Since it's not hard to do, i'd rather they do this on a closed caption channel rather than actually on the video feed. Either way it won't be anywhere near as bad as you guys are making it out to be.

That's what I was thinking as well. Hope that it's possible.

yeah, it's not that I thought it would completely disrupt the image, it's just one more thing on the screen I don't care about. I also just noticed, which I didn't in my first post, that it says re-runs...which I won't be watching anyway.

The last time I looked, some of those cable networks run a constant ticker tape of advertising and promos from their upcoming shows. I'm sick of it, and no it's not a close-caption kind of feature than you can turn off...
