I just got an iPhone and upgraded to 3.1 not sure what people expect for battery life, but an average day for me uses about half a charge. Heavy use if a lot of data use and I probably need extra juice in 5 hours. But that's almost non stop playing, surfing and emails. How much battery life do you want? That's why they make chargers.

Quote: The report also shows that iPod Touch users are not fans of paying for their firmware updates, with only 35 percent of users updating.
Is this correct? iPod Touch users have to pay for their firmware? That is bull**** if its true.

That would be completely true. It's $10 for the updates when they are available. But at least they are significant updates. I also heard it might be free eventually.
I don't see the problem with 3.1? I haven't seen any difference in my battery life. It last 6~7 hours between me using it and it just being in my pocket. Tho I do have the brightness at its lowest.

My kids have gone back to sharepod for adding music to their Ipod touch devices, paying $4.99 for an upgrade isn't much, but the principle is absurd.

Yes your right I got a call on my iphone and hung up. 5min later I needed to make a call and my iphone screen was black, no matter what buttons I pressed I got no response even trying to reset it was a no go, the only thing that brought it back to live was going home and plugging the iphone into the wall charger which then it came on right away. I called Fido and they said sure if I want to send the phone in I could however if they don't find the problem they will keep your old phone and send you a new one and you be charged $500.+ what a scam. So I would send it in they will turn it on see no problems and keep it and send you a new one for $500? What about the iphone I paid for lol too much.

Thats because you cannot unlock 3.1! of course nobody wants the update, not to mention they dont need it outside of the US! Englands O2 MMS already works without the update, im sure other contries probably dont need it either and prefer to keep their phone unlocked.
