Microsoft performs another round of Xbox Live account banning

I don't have long term numbers for the new chipset...it has not been out long enough. However, I do know that far more 360 systems have gotten the RROD than PS3 systems with the YLOD in total.

It wouldn't be that hard...they are able to detect the difference between their memory cards and aftermarket memory cards made just for the 360...I am sure they could detect a different BluTooth ID on a wireless headset, or even a different resistance on a plug-in headset (but who would want a headset that plugs into a wireless controller? What's the point of wireless if you have wires?).

Ummm no, they don't ban everyone at once because they can not detect everyone. There are plenty of people who have had modded xbox's since the days of xtreme and are still not banned.
Also, microsoft does not ban consoles for "cheating" in games. The most they do is either an account ban, but usually only just banning them from the game they cheated on.

Was that directed at me?....I know stuff to,in fact i know quite a bit about several issues from national security issues through to some gaming info,i'm bound by "privacy" as the original poster on this matter says....so i keep my mouth shut...that way you don't get into trouble either on here or with your contacts,all it does is bring hassles as the poster has found out.

wow all this talk about a man who told a man who told me how they check if your xbox 360 is naughty look you log onto live they read everything on your system at log in EVERYTHING its not hard to see is it!!!

that's not quite how it works, they cant see every thing but they do know certain things such as BIOS details there is one at every boot you think that ball with the X on it is just for looks. there is a small storage capacity within the xbox itself just enough to record a few logs of Hardware ID mismatches and Hardware Failure
Hardware ID mismatches = immediate flag which more than likely will result in your ban.
Hardware Failure +3 equals flag inspection. if its your DVD-Rom drive that failed more than three times, your living on borrowed time.
as these are logged and sent out every time you connect to live you cant hide from it.
people think MS seats there and finds people to ban. when its your console rating you out to the live servers.

no thats not a Hardware ID mismatch, every piece of hardware in each and every xbox is stamped with a digital ID the drive's may be the same the may even have the same Hardware tag. but the ID is different in every xbox
not having the power cord connected to the drive is counted as a failure you can have up to 3 of these. any more and the xbox Tells Bigbrother Down in Redmond that Somethings not right. this doesn't mean immediate ban it means someone or some machine will try to see how it failed by reading the log your xbox sent.
hence your riding on borrowed time, as all they have to do is type in some nice little commands that make the xbox squeal like a captured German.
sometimes they just ignore it, like in my case having a launch console they more than likely thought it was just an overheat issue or perhaps at the time it was modded they were swamped with Hardware failure logs

Nah, its fundamental. i don't condone piracy nor do i care for all these locks they put on hardware. the way i see it encryption is System Performance overhead, in software application i could reduce that overhead by using little or no Copy Protection i could maximize performance. however locking the hardware down like its Fort Knox your stuck to what MS gives you and they don't give you alot. you see Software Devs are loosing out on this move Simply because there being lazy they think just be cause there hardware Is Locked out that there games cant be copied. Hardware should always be unlocked if the software writers wish to limit its performance than so be it they can lockdown there software. it should never be the other way around.

your always going to get hackers with the soul intent on hacking into software, its a big game to them, reminds me of the robocop dongle for the amiga, so sure was the game company that it couldnt be hacked they put it in a game mag, the game was hacked overnight and mega trained, were theres a will theres a way.

I hate to sound like a fanboy, but you can swap parts in and out of your PS3 all you want without fear of being banned. Hardware like hard drives are not locked, and you can put in a hard drive from any manufacturer without issue. In spite of all this, there is no way to pirate PS3 software...and even with all these locks and bans, people are still able to pirate 360 games!

Fuq M$ sorry asses. I bought the console for the games selection not the console. both mine are modded. Not so i can pirate but so i dont have to buy multiple copies of the same game to play with friends at my house on games that should have had multiplayer built in, & also so when i go offshore i can leave my originals at home so i wont get them stolen. Until these fuq faces get it right im gonna do whatever i can to do it myself. they can go pound sand for all i care...right up their butts. just you (M$) wait cuz when that secondary boot program gets finished youre finished cuz you know what the next step is after that? An alternative to LIVE thats what you nickel & dimeing bitches. ,,,a little tip for you all before you get banned - i'm using ix1.6, so is my friend & he got banned today.. he's played the exact same games as me & his 360 is identical to mine, both early models with sammy ms25 drives... the only difference between his n mine - ive played & completed modern warfare 2 - disconnected from live & i changed my system date to the 11th november,, thats irrelevant though as i didnt go on live & wasnt intending to do so until the 11th - so i wasnt detected as playing a game that wasnt available in the shops..
what did i do,, before i connected back to live i cleared my system cache, formatted my hard drive & then performed the hardware reset on my 360 - i then put my original of cod4 on the tray & rebooted with the network cable connected & then retrieved my gamertag.. my console took a game update & its now online - no ban as of yet.. ive also had a dabble on the sky player too, restarted it a few times.. all good.. i dont intend putting a copy game in & playing online for a while.. i also have another friend who uses old xtreme1.2 i think,,, he's always had that firmware & never been banned on any of his consoles - i believe he's running 2 360s on that fw - both unaffected (he hasnt play the backup of halo odst as i wouldnt run on his old fw.. fyi - backed up games used in my friends banned 360 & all patched & verified with ABGX - COD4, dirt2, halo odst, grid.. i also noted that when i compared my friends games list to mine online that odst had dissappeared from his game list - this may be significant !!! its my belief that the firmware has little to do with the bannings,, possibly a case of deliberately leaked games to entrap the modded comunity.. as for halo odst - im glad i tried before i bought it as id've been gutted at spending over £40 for it - its simply not worth it - i would however say that Modern Warfare 2 is worth buying !! just my opinion.. oh & for all the haters - why am i running a hacked 360 - how many games have you paid full whack for on the strength of a good advertising campaign only to find the game is absolute trash.. i.e fallout 3 - biggest waste of cash ever !!! i say stuff the laws - i should be allowed to back up my own games & run them in my system to protect my investment - especially when a very fragile piece of plastic costs more than some people earn after a hard days work !! & in the absense of a playable demo i will always download a pirate to try first - if its really good i will buy it - if not i'll ditch it..

I was playing a legit copy of Forza 3 and my system got banned. I had a Lite-on drive and flashed it with ixtreme 1.61 and wasn't playing any street dated games or games that haven't been released yet (this has also occurred with some of my friends who had their systems modded) I was wondering if anyone has any information on any new firmware release or anyway around this situation.
