Nexus One will cause problems for Google, says Microsoft

article published on 8 January, 2010

Microsoft's Robbie Bach has said today that Google will cause problems for itself now that it has released the Nexus One smartphone, problems with "attracting partners" for Android in the future. Bach thinks that now that the company has released its own phone, handset makers may feel that Google phones will be prioritized over their own Android devices. That may push some to stop using ... [ read the full article ]

If I was Microsoft, I would be scared of the Android platform as well.

So do I. Microsoft, who has NOTORIOUSLY eaten it's words over repeated times, is going to eat these words again.

Some people may not use GMail, or Google Voice, or even Google wave, but this phone, and the capabilities Google has to make things easier for people, will allow another monopoly of technology, far surpassing any distinct feelings of tension between the phone makers, and Google. Google is smart, and all of their decisions, are tremendously helpful to the public.

It will be interesting to see what happens. One problem w/ the Android OS is part of the same reasons Windows Mobile had problems. Many developers didn't want to make apps for it because of the wide variety of hardware they were one, so they often ended up developing for the lowest common denominator hardware rather than making several versions of their software optimized for each 'class' of hardware. If new Android OS software ends up focusing on Droid and Nexus One, interest in any lower-end Android-based devices may dry up.

Isn't that already problem right now?

Threre are a lot of different version of 1.6 and 2.0's out there and all software doesn't work across the versions.

Companies who put out 1.6 phones not updating to 2.0 anytime soon.

The only thing i don't like about the Google phone is the fact that its only available through Google and no actual shops. A big downside.

wtf he is talking about?? If all the phones are running android any update or app is going to be able to be used on any android phone. Android is the phones OS. just like if I have a dell computer, an hp computer, etc. all running windows XP. It does not matter that they are all different computers. They are all running the same OS so everything is going to pretty much work across the board.

this is only an issue because the makers of the phone itself adding features to the phone that require updates for each new android update. perfect example is htc's sense ui on the droid eris. this isnt googles fault or problem.
