The NFL (National Football League) has started a new Twitter policy this week, prohibiting players, coaches and team personnel from Tweeting for the entire duration of a game, including the 90 minutes before and 30 minutes after. "The NFL has been at the forefront of the use of new media and will continue to emphasize innovative and appropriate use of these new forms of communication"

...So long as there is absolutely no chance that these new technologies might compete in a tiny way with the existing technolgies. If the execs had a brain between them, they would see that this does not compete with TV, and in fact would increase viewership. Worse perhapse, they know that no one wants to watch the terrible pre-game and post-game shows, and would prefer to read tweets from the players themselves. Rather than improving these shows so that people want to watch them, they simply ban the alternative.

This is why CP should be more limited because the NFL shows what can happen when you allow CP owners so much power they become CP nazis and sue anyone they can because they don't want fans to think just buy crap.

now read what the nfl says
The policy now reads: "Coaches, players and football operations personnel are permitted under league policy and with club permission to use social media on game day during specific time periods before and after games... up to 90 minutes before kickoff and after the game following media interviews."
