Earlier today, AT&T halted online sales of the iPhone in New York City, prompting giant media scrutiny which almost unanimously agreed that the carrier was trying to halt extra traffic to their already overworked networks. NYC is the most populous iPhone ownership city in the United States.
The carrier has still not explained the halting of the sales, but has quietly returned the phone to its website.

For a second, I thought AT&T was going to the the right thing...even if in the most back-asward, half-hearted way possible. Clearly I gave them too much credit...as they are once again adding load to a network already massivly overloaded.

Well, it looks like they wanted to do the right thing, and did momentarily, but "giant media scrutiny" wouldn't let them keep it that way. They gave in to the pressure I guess.
