Wireless carrier Orange UK has noted today the launch of "high definition calls", an upgrade to call quality. The updated voice service will use Wideband Adaptive Multi-Rate (WB-AMR) for speech transmission which allocates 5x more bandwidth for a call than normal 3G voice, while using the same or only slightly more data. Wouldn't phone companies have to upgrade the speakers on their mobile phones to really hear the difference in quality? Because as it stands right now headset speakers are nothing to run home about.

like a 7.1 surround headset ;) kinda pointless, i think its more for picture clarity & smoothness.

what needs to be talked about is the cost and the blockage of skype by several mobile operators in favour of their own services.
