I really though that this post was resurrected by mistake.
This will be a success for sony if the Brazilians at the 1st of this January celebrate the year 2000 instead of 2010.

Wouldn't it make sense to sell their stuff at a cheaper or more affordable price if they want people to buy it? Same issue with the 360. I only bought one to mod because I don't have $68 to spend on every game, half of them not being worth that much period. If games didn't cost 1/3 of the console price itself, I would consider buying them.

Those prices would be consider high even in the US. You only see those prices in Europe. "The Man" is sure gouging the Brazilians pretty good.
Anyway it's good to welcome Brazil into the 21st century.

Sonys plan would work well if the internet didn't exist. WTF, how many people do they expect in Brazil to pay PS3 prices for PS2 equipment?

PS3 is at 299euros=$445 and PS3 games at 70euros=$104.

The planet needs an economics lesson. No wonder your average person can't properly identify what put us in our current global economic mess. (hint, it wasn't a former world leader like many chose to believe)
I have yet to see anyone prove this isn't the proper price for that market. Overpriced? Probably not. It's a supply/demand issue. The market sets the price. Obviously, that is the price they have calculated that the market will bear.
If there calculation is incorrect, then demand will fall and they will have to drop prices to sell them. Simple economics.

"The market sets the price" is only valid IF all participants always make the most rational choice possible. Observing human behavior, you'll notice significant empirical evidence that they do not always make the most rational decision at any given time. Q.E.D., "classic" market economics is badly flawed. The Chicago-school economists need to be beaten soundly with rolled-up newspapers.
Carl Popper's zombie will now eat your brains. Graar.
