Samsung president of Samsung's visual display Yoon Boo-keun has said today that he expects the company's LED TV sales to jump to 2 million by the end of 2009, as the popularity of the TVs grow.
Boo-keun says the company has sold over 1 million units as of the end of July, and with some believing the recession may be nearing an end, he sees strong expected growth.

What he said is true though. No matter how innovative or compelling a technology is, if the consumer isn't willing to pay for it, it just won't succeed.
I'd like to get one myself. Just not at the price they're currently going for.
Your not kidding about the price. Depending upon the size and type of led you can expect to pay anyhwhere from $500-$3000 more for a set.
I looked at an led using a grid type array led setup it was $2500 more than your standard lcd tv. Yikes! No new tv for me.... yet.
I have been hearing reports of some of the innards of the displays on the smaller LCDs (26" and under for example) were going out due to overheating. Don't know how relevant this is, but heard this from a friend and my friend's brother told him. Apparently he's really into the electronics field, and knew the ins and outs of electronics. Has anybody had any problems in this regard cause I respect Samsung for their quality, but after hearing this, not quite too sure now where to go from here.
