Any specific problems with your PS3 that you would like them to address?

How about the problem with people having there PS3's bricked after an update. Happens to a few every time. I always wait a while before I update because I'm scared to update.

What makes you think they aren't concerned, and don't work on trying to prevent it from happening?
I don't fear an update at all for mine. Usually, there's almost always more to the story. I, for one, haven't ragged mine out. It would be nice to hear what the commonalities (abuse, etc.) among those who have gotten "bricked." These are very unusual circumstances that do not affect the vast majority of users.

I was actually trying to get him to say that he owned one. I suspected otherwise, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt without making accusations. And if he does own one, then he should have a list of things that he wants to see fixed. I agree with the uncertainty that looms with every firmware update. But I haven't had any problems yet. I have a lot of things I would like to see updated or added, but they are not all functional. Overall, I'm happy with the system.

I know the story of two consoles. My own and a (sort of) friend of mine. I had the 60gig (got a new one) and he had the 20gig (he moved on to the 360). He got his about a month before I did. Neither one of us used it for anything more than what it was intended. No Linux or anything like that. His stopped working after 2.52fw and mine stopped after 3.0fw. The only thing common about the two consoles are the games we played and both stopped working with a blinking yellow light immediately after the update. Good to hear your one of the lucky one's that have had no issues with the PS3 but not all of us are as lucky.

Thirded. That's about the only functional change that I want. Everything else is aesthetic. Full native mkv playback. No converting or remuxing bs.

Some random analyst said he THINKS it might be subscription only in the future. But yeah, Hulu is up to Hulu to decide to allow PS3 to access it again, not Sony.

It happens. The only time I haven't forgiven it is when Atari had TOS 1.06 for the initial STe computers and then released an update to it that was 1.62. Apparently, there was only enough space for 2 digits after the decimal point, so they couldn't do 1.062 and made the excuse that the '0' should be ignored...but many thought it shoulda been 1.07 or 1.08 instead. Such geekiness! ;-)

The thing I want to see the most is already in the pipeline, and that's HD movie rental via the UK Store. But native MKV support would be nice although i don't use that format a lot.
As for Bookface and Twatter, good for those that use them but not of interest to me.

Please indulge us with the rest of the story.
Did you both contact Sony, and return the units to them so they could attempt to diagnose and repair the problem?
If not, then you are actually more guilty than they are as far as helping resolve the issue long term. If they can't "see" the issue first hand, there's absolutely no way they can prevent it from happening in the future. If you didn't return it for inspection, then you are preventing them from having information they need to resolve such issues.
I do QA for a living. If they can't create or recreate an issue, they can't possibly fix it or prevent it ahead of time.

When will we be able to change the text color so when I have a light colored wallpaper I wont have to squint or walk up to the screen to read the words? And I haven't tried it yet but does this update fix the auto play to auto play a dvd or blu ray like it use to?

I don't believe the issue is "made up", it's just that those who do have a problem should be more collaborative in helping Sony solve their specific problem.
That being said, there are a lot of folks who like to take isolated problems and blow them out of proportion, making them sound like an epidemic. Afterdawn itself is sometimes guilty of this (the digital switchover was a good example.)
I suppose if the reality or truth is boring, some feel a little drama is necessary to "spice it up."
